Job Summary:

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the production floor to ensure that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. The role involves coordinating production schedules, managing staff, maintaining quality control, and optimizing production processes to meet organizational goals.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Implementing and improving standard operating procedures and standard work for the supercritical CO2 extraction processes.
  • Developing and optimizing extraction methods to maximize yield, throughput, and product quality.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the production team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and innovation.
  • Supervising the production process to ensure efficient and timely manufacturing of food products while adhering to quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Implementing and maintaining quality control measures to ensure that products meet specified standards for safety, consistency, and taste. This involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, and addressing any issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including food safety standards set by government agencies such as the FDA or USDA. This involves implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety training for staff, and maintaining a clean and sanitary production environment.
  • Developing and managing budgets for the plant’s operations, including expenses related to labor, materials, equipment, and maintenance. Identifying opportunities for cost savings and implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Hiring, training, and supervising plant staff, including production workers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel. Providing leadership and guidance to ensure that employees understand their roles and responsibilities and perform their duties effectively.
  • Coordinating maintenance activities to ensure that production equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition. This involves scheduling routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating repairs as needed to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Supercritical CO2 extraction process experience – 2 yrs minimum
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise professional tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, coworkers, and customers.
  • Organizational & time management kills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Thorough understanding of production policies and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management, engineering, or other STEM fields preferred.
  • At least 2 years of production management experience.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb to perform duties.
